William Fred Lehman, son of William Harvey and Elsie J. Bieg Lehman, was born on June 12, 1925, in Burlington, Iowa. He departed this life Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in St. John's Regional, Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 83. On November 15, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mildred Deloris Hansen, one son and one daughter were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter-in-law Jackie Lehman, and sister Ione H. Kaup. William is survived by his son, William Grant Lehman of Danbury, Wisconsin; daughter, Carolyn Jean Cooper of Fort Scott, Kansas; two grandchildren; one nephew, great-nieces; great-nephew; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1943-1946. He married Mildred in Burlington, Iowa, at his mother's house. Upon honorable discharge, he became a machinist for the CB&Q and Burlington Northern Railways, retiring in 1985 after 40 years of service. He retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, where he enjoyed fishing and outdoor tasks. He was a member of Lion's Club and Retired Railroaders. Following Mildred's death in 2003, he moved to Fort Scott, Kansas.
