Obituary
Melvin H. Legate, 69, of Burlington, died at 8:58 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 5, 1942, in Biggers, AR, he was the son of Leo C. and Elva Barker Legate. Melvin worked as a farm laborer. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene on Logansport, IN. He enjoyed playing Bingo being around people and especially his family. Survivors include one brother, Cecil Legate of Honolulu, HI; one sister, Norma Elliott of West Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his one brother, Marshall.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM with the family to receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, March 19, 2012 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Legate will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 19, 2012, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain David Plooster officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen community room following the interment.
A memorial has been established for the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center.
