Mrs. Dorothy Opal Lefstein, 91, of Burlington died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Unit.
Born October 2, 1921 in Sedan, Kansas, she was the daughter of George J. and Naomi S. Miller Hogan. On December 28, 1943 she married Julius Lefstein in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1992.
For 32 years she and her husband owned and operated The Economy Store, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Lefstein was of the Methodist faith. She was an avid sports fan including the Kansas Jay Hawks and St. Louis Cardinals. She loved antiquing and enjoyed traveling, animals and visiting her grandchildren. She had a green thumb like no other and enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Clinton) Foster and Sharon (Ron) Yaley both of Burlington; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Wesley A. (Mary Ann) Hogan of Elk City, Kansas; and one niece, Andrea DeHart of Olathe, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and nephew.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22nd, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from noon until the time of service.
The funeral service for Mrs. Lefstein will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22nd, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
