Doris Irene Barker, 77, of 500 S. Gertrude St., Burlington, died at 3:55 am Tuesday, May 21, 1996, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born April 2, 1919, in Worth County, Northwood, she was the daughter of Charles Rober and Ida Matilda Anderson.
She was a 1937 graduate of Northwood High School.
Ms. Barker was a senior secretary for plant managers for Mason and Hanger at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1985 with 34 years of service. She also filled in as church secretary and at Burlington Medical Center.
She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, the Lydia Group of the church and the National Secretary Association.
Survivors include one son, Bruce Burdette Barker of Burlington; one daughter, Marlo Jane Schulte of Burlington; two brothers, Russell Leon Anderson of Northwood, and Chester Irving Anderson of Kensett; one sister, Alice Norene Whitcome of Northwood; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
Visitation will begin after noon Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 pm.
The funeral for Ms. Barker will be 10 am Thursday at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, with Reve. Traverce Harrison officiating. Burling will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
