Obituary
Alice Marguerite Leedom, 98, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Great River Hospice, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born March 25, 1910, in Burlington, the daughter of Henry and Hulda Brenneke Wilke. On December 31, 1936, she married Laurence B. Leedom of Ottumwa. He died December 27, 1974. They moved to Ottumwa, where Mr. Leedom and his father owned and operated the Ottumwa Foundry, and resided there for twenty-two years before returning to Burlington. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, and was employed at North- western Telephone Company, One-Hour Martenizing, C & E Company, and the IAAP. Alice enjoyed her family and her grandchildren's activities. She was an accomplished seamstress, who also loved dining out, her pets, and attending auction sales. Surviving are daughters, Kathy (Sam) Trimble, Sandra (Don) Huffman, of Burlington; son Michael (Valerie) Leedom, of West Burlington; and sister, Edith Lundquist of Burlington. She has twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon (Richard) Sample of Ottumwa, Iowa, her parents, four sisters and one brother. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Lunning Chapel. Services for Mrs. Leedom will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008, at Lunning Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
