Leo Richard Laue, 94, of Burlington, died at 9:20 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center.
Born August 18, 1922, in Mediapolis, IA, he was the son of George and Rose Johnson Laue. On August 6, 1949, he married Porteous "Joy" Wheeler in Burlington, Iowa. She died on January 9, 2013.
Leo was a spot welder at General Electric. He drove a school bus and was a mechanic at Sperry School for 23 years.
He was a graduate of Sperry High School
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII from August 11, 1944 until July 3, 1946.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Steve (Marie) Laue of Normal, IL; two grandsons, Tom (Pauline) Laue of Champaign, IL, David Laue of Normal, IL; two brothers-in-law, Ron Wheeler of Burlington, Huey Wheeler of Fairfield; four sisters-in-law, Wanda Houston, Donna Krieger, Sue Ives all of Burlington, Laura (Charles) Marshall of Stronghurst; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Duane, and three sisters, Helen Laue, Dorothy Peterson, and Virginia Hoffman.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Prugh's Chapel.
The funeral service for Mr. Laue will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Prugh's Chapel with Reverend Debra L. Kinney officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
