Thelma E. Baker, 85, of New London Care Center, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at the care center.
Born Feb. 9, 1914, at Lamoni, she was the daughter of Arthur and Mathilda Warner Orfield. On Nove 14, 1939, she married James M. Baker in Kentucky. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Baker was a cook at Lamb’s Diner. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include one son, LeRoy Baker of Burlington; one daughter Virginia Stainer of Yucca Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and (46) step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 pm Monday at Sheagren Funeral Home.
The Funeral for Mrs. Baker will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at Sheagren Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Tilton officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for First Church of the Nazarene and New London Care Center.
