Kenneth Axel Waring, 86, of Burlington, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Danville Care Center, Danville Iowa.
Born November 26, 1931 on the family farm near Roseville, IL, he was the son of Axel and Teckla Viola (Johnson) Waring. Ken married Darlene Lankford on October 8, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2004.
He graduated in 1950 from Roseville High School and after graduation he served in the Army during the Korean War as the rank of Corporal. Ken went on to welding school and auctioneering school in Mason City, Iowa
Ken worked for various companies, Benner Tea Company where he worked there after the service then went to Modern Welding then moved to Mesa Arizona. He returned to Burlington to work at Modern Welding for a short time and then retired from Murray Iron Works in 1995. In retirement he did delivery and handyman work for Zaiser's for 5 years.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served on the mission committee. Ken enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion in Stronghurst, Illinois.
Survivors include four children, Paul Waring of Miami-Dade, Florida, Brenda Waring of Mesa, AZ, Lisa (David) Weiler of Danville and Rebecca "Becky" (Charles) Conn of Dell City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Nathan Weiler of Danville, Jessica (Jake) Moser of West Burlington, Kristina Weiler of Danville, Amanda (Shane) Vergara of Pollock Pines, CA, Rachel (Samuel) Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK, Sarah (Logan) Longley of Midwest City, OK, Hannah Conn of Dell City, OK; one great granddaughter, Gwendolyn Longley of Midwest City, OK, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters, Marguerite, Frances, Alice, Ruth, and one brother Carl.
The family will receive friends at Lunning Chapel, Tuesday evening, April 24th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm.
The funeral service for Mr. Waring will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25th at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Susanne Smith officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Stronghurst American Legion.
