Lorenzo P. Diego, 91, of West Branch, Iowa died at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch, Iowa, on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 3:45 a.m.
Born on February 2, 1924, in Caibarien, Cuba, he was the son of Domingo and Demetria Cearra Diego. He married Otilia Concepcion Blanco on December 6, 1952, in Caibarien, Cuba.
Lorenzo was an administrator for Regil Coffee Co, Contramaestre, Cuba. He also worked at Chittenden & Eastman for 25 years. He was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church in Burlington and St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City.
He is survived by nephews, Pete (Stephany) Carrillo of Iowa City, Iowa and Alfredo Diego of Aventura, Florida; nieces, Maria Diego-Melchiori of Orlando, Florida and Mayra (George) Daniel of Somonauk, Illinois; great-nephews, William & Alex Carrillo of Iowa City, Iowa and Martin Daniel of Chicago, Illinois; great-niece, Ani Daniel-Diaz of Chicago, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters, Angela and Maria.
Funeral services for Lorenzo Diego will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, 317 N. 4th St. in Burlington. Fr. Marty Goetz will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or a charity of donor’s choice. The family will receive friends at Prugh’s Chapel one hour prior to the service.
