Marion Junior Kuntz, 90, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Burlington, died at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Arbor Court, Mount Pleasant. Born January 22, 1919, in Little York, IL, he was the son of Adam and Odessa Reddick Kuntz. On February 16, 1939, he married Irma Anderson in Burlington. Mr. Kuntz farmed until 1959, and then worked as a carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran with the Rainbow Division, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Carpenters' Union and the Army Rainbow Division. He enjoyed playing cards, watching wrestling, working in his woodshop, square dancing, and helping people. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Frahm of Mount Pleasant, and Connie Thorsen of Flushing, N Y; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in infancy, and five sisters. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Kuntz will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with full military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Hospice Compassus of Cedar Rapids.
