Otilia "Tili" Concepcion Diego, 89, of West Branch, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch. Born August 15, 1920, in Moron, Cuba, she was the daughter of Pedro and Otilia Barrero Blanco. On December 6, 1952, she married Lorenzo Diego in Caibarien, Cuba. Mrs. Diego grew up in Moron, and received training in telegraphy from the Cuban government, and later became a bookkeeper. She came to the United States in1965, living in Dallas City, IL, and Burlington and Iowa City. She was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church in Burlington, and St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City. She was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, traveling, and dancing. Survivors include her husband of Iowa City; one nephew; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. The funeral for Mrs. Diego will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
