Archie Guy Baker, 82, 1505 Aetna, died at 4:05 am Sunday at Burlington hospital.
He was formerly chief engineer of the federal housing program in this area. At the time of the construction of the ordnance plant here, he was the government engineer for the project.
Born June 15, 1886, at Steamboat Rock, he was the son of William C. and Abbit Britten Baker. He married Ella Bear at Des Moines June 9, 1928. Mr. Baker was a veteran of WWI army service. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Rotary, Engineers Club and Iowa Association of Civil Engineers.
Surviving; The wife; a son, Donald Richard Baker, New York City and one sister, Mrs. Harry Miller Tacoma, Wash.
Services; 2 pm Tuesday, Prugh’s Chapel Rev. Olin Lewis; Aspen Grove. A memorial fund has been established at First Congregational Church.
