Wanita Mae Koerner, 91, of Kirksville, MO, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Born April 11, 1919, inYoungstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Frank and Harriet Pringle Warnock. In 1939, she married Rudolph Koerner. He died in 1967. Mrs. Koerner was a floral designer. After moving to Kirksville, she ran a day care for children in her home for several years. Her family had moved to Kirksville in 1925, and she graduated from Kirksville High School in 1937. From 1937 to 1939, she attended nursing school in Burlington, where she lived until moving back to Kirksville in 1986. She enjoyed fishing, bird watching, band concerts in the park, playing cards with friends, and crafts, especially woodworking. She loved the Chicago Cubs, and listened to their games on the radio and watched them on TV. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Paul Goodwin of Kirksville, John Goodwin of Olathe, Kan., Sue Martin of Saugatuck, Mich., Cheri Suzuki of Brunswick, Maine; and many other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. The graveside service for Mrs. Koerner will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. There will be no visitation. Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville is in charge of arrangements.
