Patricia "Pat" Ann Norman, 71, of Oquawka, Ill., died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Oaklane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst. Born July 23, 1938, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Woodrow Wilson "Hack" and Loretta Spooner Thomas. In 1957, she married William Horace Kobus in Burlington. He died July 28, 1969. In 1972 she married James R. Norman in Burlington. He died December 18, 2006. Mrs. Norman worked as a bookkeeper and did income tax preparation. She also worked as a tax assessor for Henderson County, Ill. She was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School, and took business classes at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Ill. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed nature, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include five daughters, Annette Kobus of Austin, Texas, Eileen Salinas of Marble Falls, Texas, and Carolyn Kobus, Patti Norman, and Pammi Norman, all of Oquawka; one son, James Kobus of Oquawka; one step-son, Jeff Norman of Zion, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Loretta Rodshaver of Oaklane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst; two brothers, David Thomas of Seneca, S.C., and Joe Thomas of Gresham, Ore.; one sister, Linda Ross of Boulder, Colo.; and nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her father and one stepson. Visitation will be from noon to 7:30 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, where family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Norman will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
