James E. Knoll, 93, of Bartonville, Ill., died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria, Ill. Born November 24, 1912, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles and Katherine Zeller Knoll. On October 22, 1945, he married Mary E. Brockert in Davenport. She died January 1, 2004. Mr. Knoll served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. After leaving the military he went to work as a salesperson for Don Pease Co. until his retirement in July, 1970. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Martinez of Bartonville; one son, Michael Knoll of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. Cremation rites will be accorded. The graveside ash committal service for Mr. Knoll will be 11 a.m. November 20 at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
