Howard D. Bailey, 60 of 2219 Baumberger, died at 11:05 am Friday, Dec. 21, at Burlington Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 22, 1913, in Melbourne, Ia, the son of John T. and Gertrude Bailey. He married Marian Smith Apr. 17, 1938, at Cedar Rapids.
He retired as chief of administration for the Atomic Energy Commission at Middletown in 1969. He was a past president of the Des Moines County Conservation Commission and was a member of the Iowa Wildlife Federation, First United Church of Christ, and a charter member of the Long Creek Conservation club.
Surviving: the wife; two sons, William, Starbuck, Minn., and Thomas, Burlington; two sisters, Bess Aves and Lillie Preston, both of Melbourne; five grandchildren.
Funeral: 10:30 am Monday, Rev. Alvin Volle, Lunning chapel; Aspen Grove cemetery
