Vera Christina Bailey, 86, of Burlington, died at 3 am Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Coralville.
Born Nov. 25, 1911, in Fairfield, she was the daughter of Andrew G. and Jennie Heisel Samuelson. On Jan. 31, 1933, she married Forrest Alexander Bailey in Oquawka, Ill. He died July 10, 1996.
Mrs. Bailey graduated from Fairfield High School. She was a preschool teacher at Kiddie College for 12 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, Mainliners and Railroad Veterans Auxiliary and Order of the Easter Star of Danville Chapter No. 514, where she served as a past worthy matron. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one son, Larry Eugene Bailey of West Branch; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Manleyof Warren, Mich., and Geneva Siefers of Davenport; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Visitation will begin after noon Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 pm.
The funeral for Mrs. Bailey will be at 1 pm Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Sue Krummel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
