Robert Frank Kinnison, 83, of Burlington, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Great River Klein Center, Burlington, Iowa. Born August 22, 1926, in Patterson, Missouri, he was the son of Roy and Ella Harvey Kinnison. On December 30, 1969, he married Betty Maxine Chriss in Biggsville, Illinois. She died on June 11, 2007. Robert was an Army veteran. His decorations and citations include the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He worked as a pipefitter and plumber for Local 125. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed volunteering for the 40 & 8 Park. He loved camping, traveling, and tinkering. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one son, Bobby Kinnison of Georgia; one brother, Ed (Shirley) Kinnison of Broomfield, CO; two nieces, Janet Ryner and Carol Gapen, both of West Burlington, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Shirley Almendinger of Burlington, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one son, Roy, two brothers, four sisters. Graveside ash committal services for Robert Frank Kinnison will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Pastor Dean Moberg will officiate. A memorial has been established for the American Legion.
