Larry G. Cohenour, 69, of Brighton, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Maplewood Manor Care Center in Keota. Born May 4, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Rex and Dorothy Morris Cohenour. Mr. Cohenour was a self-employed entrepreneur. He previously worked at Standard of Beaverdale and American Chain & Cable, both in Fairfield, Iowa; Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown; and Milan Surplus in Milan, Ill. He graduated from Douds High School in 1959. He served four years in the Air Force. He moved to Brighton in 1998. He enjoyed cars and guns. Survivors include one son, Christopher McHugh of Keota; one daughter, Phaedra Cohenour of Fairfield; two grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy King of Wichita Falls, Texas, Janet Breeding of Newalla, Okla., and Nellie Fisher of Bettendorf; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Cohenour will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wilbur Morfitt officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. As a memorial, the family asks friends to commit a "random act of kindness".
