Mary Jane Schrader, 84, of Burlington, died on Thursday afternoon, December 13, 2012, at Blair House, Burlington, Iowa. Born on July 18, 1928 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Laura Marie Bliesener Kidd and Colin Kidd. She was previously married to James Schrader. Ms. Schrader worked in the Line 1 office of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, at the National Research Bureau and at Prugh Funeral Service. She enjoyed traveling to many different destinations. She especially loved traveling to Monifieth, Scotland, which was the birthplace of her father, who was a professional golfer before he came to the United States. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, watching golf tournaments on television, playing golf and caring for her pets (especially her cats). Survivors include her daughter, Cornelia Kidd Summers and her son-in-law, Timothy Summers of Godfrey, Illinois; her granddaughter Ashley Chamberlin of O'Fallon, Missouri; and numerous cousins in Burlington, Minnesota and Scotland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothea Kidd. Funeral services for Ms. Schrader will be Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:30a.m. at Prugh's Chapel. Rev.Deb Kinney will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. The visitation for Ms. Schrader will be from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Prugh's Chapel. A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
