David "Red" Kennedy, 56, of Burlington, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born May 12, 1951, Burlington, he was the son of Charles R. and Dorothy Carlson Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a Hawk Eye newspaper carrier. He enjoyed animals, caring for strays and spending time on the computer. He was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. Survivors include his mother; one sister, Sandra Jackson of West Burlington, two brothers, Scott Kennedy and Steven Kennedy, both of Burlington; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Kennedy will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center Hospice and Des Moines County Humane Society.
