Obituary
Lydia D. Bacher, 102, of Roseville, Minn., and formerly of Burlington, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at her home. Born July 13, 1906, in Chicago, she was the daughter of James and Josephine Chobot Dudycha. On August 1, 1958, she married Henry C. Bacher in Burlington. He died January 20, 1971. Mrs. Bacher taught for 33 years in the Burlington Community School District, teaching at Sunnyside and Prospect Hill schools. She taught inVan Horne and Cresco. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Oak Park, IL, and Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She earned an associate of arts degree in music at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant after retiring. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington, Des Moines County Retired Teachers Association, IRTA, AARP-NRTA, Des Moines County Historical Society, Bel Canto Chorale, RSVO and Friends of the Library. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Zola (Piper) Dudycha, and Evelyn (Walker) Dudycha; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, and three brothers. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The funeral for Mrs. Bacher will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Karas officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Oak Street Baptist Church and Centennial United Methodist Church, 1524 W. County Road C2, Roseville, Minn. 55113.
