Bobby Bruce Kendall, 80, of Burlington, died at 11:10 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington. Born August 23, 1926, in Golden, Colorado, he was the son of Oren Clayton and Evalena Taylor Kendall. On October 27, 1948, he married Alta Mae Basquin in Fairfield. She died on August 3, 1994. He worked for Grinnell Corp., and Automotive Sprinkler Corp,. as a fitter. He served in the Army Air Corp as a tail gunner in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Sprinkler Fitter Local 669, Elks Club and American Legion Post 52. He was a member of the United Church of Christ. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, RV camping and collecting model trains. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Gipple of Waverly and Ellen Bloomberg of Burlington; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one brother and two sisters. Rev. Dean Moberg will officiate, with burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center Hospice and Bickford Cottage.
