Emma C. Kemp, 91, of the Burlington Care Center, died at 8:50 pm Tuesday, March 20, 1990, at the care center.
Born Jan. 5, 1899, in Louisa County, she was the daughter of Frank L. and Molly Kamerer Beik. She married Clarence “C.Ray” Ray Kemp Aug. 20, 1921, in Columbus City. He died Jan 8, 1972.
She was a graduate of Wapello High School and attended Cornell College. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a deaconess. She taught school for several years, farmed in the West Liberty area for a time, and managed the Tama Building for several years.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice Kemp, Burlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Leona (Don) Walter, Burlington, and Mrs. Lucile (FD) Smiley, Columbus Junction.
Funeral services will be held at Lunning Chapel Friday, March 23, at 1:30 pm. The Rev. David Lukov will be officiating. Friends may call until 8:30 pm today at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Lukov Officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the First Presbyterian Church.
