Leland Claire Keller, 85, of Burlington, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday Dec. 1, 2000, at Burlington Care Center. Born Jan. 2, 1915, in Fairfield, he was the son of John E. and Grace Heisel Keller. He married Dorothy Wiele on March 26, 1939, in Burlington. Mr. Keller graduated from Fairfield High School, where he participated in all sports. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Army Engineers and participating in the China, Burma and India campaigns. He lived in burlington for more than 60 years. He was a furniture and carpet salesman for Montgomery Wards for 32 years and for Derby Furniture Co. for 10 years. He was a member of First United Church of Christ for more than 60 years and was an avid hunter in fisherman. Survivors include two daughters, Merrilee Knak and Karen DeVilbiss, both of Burlington; two brothers, Leo Keller of Palm Desert, Calif., and Robert Keller of Fairfield; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. Visitatin will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Eicher-Sheagren Funeral Home. The funeral for Mr. Keller will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the music department of First United Church of Christ.
