Obituary
Dorothy M. Keller, 79, of West Burlington, died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 1998, at her daughter's home in Burlington. Born December 10, 1918, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary Peterson Wiele. On March 26, 1939, she married Leland Keller in Burlington. Mrs. Keller was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Burlington High School and a lifelong resident. She was a lifetime member of First United Church of Christ, and a member of Dorcas Ester Circle. She was a Sunday School teacher for 26 years, and served as superintendent of the Bible School. She was a member of the choir and consistory. She delivered church Thanksgiving baskets to the needy for 38 years. She started a church blood bank and a junior league for the youngsters, of which she was the leader for eight years. She also was appointed elder emeritus of the church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Merrilee Knak of Burlington, and Karan De Vilbiss of Burlington; three grandchildren; two great-grandchilden; and one brother, Richard Wiele of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Sheagren Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Mrs. Keller will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ's music department.
