Clarissa Mae Babcook, 72, of Florissant, Colo., formerly of Burlington, died January 14, 2008. Born September 26, 1935, she was the daughter of Ralph Henry and Alice Elizabeth Mehl Venghaus. In June 1955, she married James C. Babcook. Mrs. Babcook was a 1953 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1955 graduate of Burlington Junior College. She was a member of college sorority, Children's Rights Council and Foster Care Review Board. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Matthew Curtis Babcook of Overland Park, Kan., Stephen James Babcook of Lincoln, Neb., and Timothy John Babcook of Woodland Park, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond Venghaus of Gering, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son. Graveside services for Mrs. Babcook will be at 10 a.m. today at Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Venghaus officiating. A memorial has been established for the Babcook Family Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Nebraska Foundation.
