Obituary
James C. Babcook, 80, of Burlington, died at 6:40 AM Friday, October 2, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 29, 1935, in Burlington, he was the son of Boyd Leon and Dorothy Marie Carhoff Babcook. On June 12, 1955, he married Clarissa Mae Venghaus in Burlington. She died January 14, 2008.
Jim worked for Goodyear and Montgomery Ward.
He was a U.S. National Guard Veteran, serving from 1952 until 1960.
He was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NB prior to being a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was a Boy Scout leader for 12 years. He enjoyed wood working and being outdoors.
Survivors include his three sons, Timothy Babcook of Burlington, Matt Babcook of Kansas City, KS, and Steve Babcook of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; three half-brothers, Jo Babcook of San Francisco, CA, Joe Born of Burlington, and David Babcook of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Babcook, one sister, Debra Goble, and one half brother, Dennis Babcook.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Babcook will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 9, 2015 at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.
Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
