William Cross Jolly, 83, of Burlington, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born November 11, 1924, in Iron Mountain, Mich., he was the son of William and Cecilia M. Nyberg Jolly. On March 12, 1943, he married Wilma Jean Brown in LaGrange, MO. She died September 24, 1991. Mr. Jolly was a truck driver for Harry S. Floden Company. He worked at Lehigh Leopold, The Glove Factory, and J. I. Case for five years. He was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bluegrass music. He played harmonica, accordion and guitar. He enjoyed drawing, painting and overhauling cars and motors. Survivors include two nieces, Marilyn Miller of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sylvia Markum of Mesquite, Texas; one great-niece; and one great-great niece. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. No formal visitation is planned. The funeral for Mr. Jolly will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Great River Medical Center Hospice.
