Wilbur W. Jones, 81, of Burlington, died at 8:56 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born July 6, 1919, in West Grove, he was the son of Wendell and Laura Van Conet Jones. On Feb. 9, 1941, he married Anna Lee Lunsford in Newton. Mr. Jones worked as a salesman for Gates Rubber Co., and as a safety engineer at Mason & Hanger-Silas Mason Co, retiring in 1984. He was a 1937 graduate of Bloomfield High Schol. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved being with his family, and being involved in his church, and also enjoyed crafting and refinishing wood projects. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Webb and Cheryl Shinn, both of West Burlington; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Marie Hamilton of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Jones will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with Robert Housby officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Church of Christ.
