Thomas C. Jones, 94, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Burlington, died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, at St. Luke's Living Center East in Cedar Rapids. Born March 12, 1914, in Madison, MO, he was the son of Charles and Nellie Jones. He married Louesa Mae Murphy in Mexico, MO. She died July 26, 1978. Mr. Jones worked as a manager of the body shop at Archer Motor Co. and then assisted his son at Ron's Auto Body, Inc. in Danville. He was a hard worker and was very giving. He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He belonged to Odd Fellows Lodge and enjoyed helping friends and family. Survivors include one son, Ron Jones of Danville; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. There will be no formal visitation. The graveside committal service and burial with military rites for Mr. Jones will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Debra L. Miller officiating. Those planning to attend the service, please meet at the Sunnyside Avenue entrance by 1:15 p.m. A memorial has been established for St. Luke's Living Center East Activity Department.
