Mr. Thomas M. Jones, Sr., 77, of Wever, died at 9:54 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at his home. Born December 20, 1934 in Carman, IL, he was the son of Harvey and Veda Headley Jones. On November 7, 1956 he married Joann Crafton in Nauvoo, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2005. Mr. Jones was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a welder for J.I. Case Co. for 35 years. Mr. Jones was of the protestant faith and was a member of UAW #807. He loved horses, his tractors and hunting. He lived for his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include two daughters, Pam (Roger) Bullard of Keokuk and Sherry Roxane (Ron) Jones of Longview, CA; one son, Thomas M. Jones Jr. of Fort Madison; four grandchildren, Lisa (Brad) Heitman of Woodbine, Christy (Ray) Milligan of Keokuk; and Thomas Jones III and Christopher Jones; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother, Bruce Jones of Wever; four sisters, Carol (Daryl) McCulley of Mount Pleasant, and Elnora Reynolds, Martha (Don) Hancock and Barbara (Dale) Ruth all of Burlington. His parents, wife Joann, two grandchildren, Brandon and Annamarie, and two brothers, George and Gene preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10th, in Lunning Chapel. The funeral service for Mr. Jones will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11th, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will conduct military rites. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
