Sharon Lee Johnson, 73, of Burlington, died at Great River Hospice House, on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2011. Born on Nov. 15, 1938 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Albert and Pauline Harbaugh Dickson. She married Warren D. Johnson on December 8, 1955 in Burlington, Iowa. She was a graduate of Burlington High School. Sharon was very proud of her work as a secretary, bookkeeper, office manager and tax preparer for various local businesses primarily with Midland Architects for over 10 years. She was a tour guide for the Burlington Tourism Bureau where she narrated bus tours of the city. She painted as a hobby then was a volunteer bookkeeper for the Arts For Living Center. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serving on various church ministry committees including worships and chair of Social Action where she organized the distribution of spiritual baskets to families in need. She organized a number of church spiritual retreats held at locations away from the church building itself. She is survived by her husband, Warren; one son, Joel (Lori Buckner) Johnson of Burlington, IA; one daughter, Kathy L. (Robert) Miller of East Peoria, Illinois;seven grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Katie (David) Jacob, Sara (Benjamin) McFall, Rebekah (Wesley) Grimm, Kristopher Orton, Jessica Johnson and Tyler Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Skylee McFall, William Jacob, Grace McFall; one sister, Carol Glasgow of Ft. Madison, Iowa; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services for Sharon Lee Johnson will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Dean Benton and Carol Benton will officiate. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
