Oliver Eugene Babb, aged 76, passed away at Park Manor Nursing Home at 2:55 p.m. on Friday, December 6th, after a long illness. He died in Mercy Hospital.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 14th, 1892, to Samuel Eugene and Mary Alice McLane Babb. On July 29th, 1914, he married Florence Clampitt in Carthage, Illinois. They later divorced.
Before his retirement a few years ago, Oliver owned and managed a second-hand furniture store on Marshall Street. He was a Methodist.
Oliver is survived by his former wife and children: Mrs. Edwin (Dorothy) Braun, Carl Leonard Betty Lou Babb, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Renner, Donald Jack Babb and Mrs. Norma Dannenbring, all of Burlington; Robert Eugene Babb of Amchitka, Alaska; Philip Babb of San Leandro, California; and Richard Alan Babb and Bonnie Wol!am of Bloomfield. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Prugh's Chapel, officiated by Reverend David Michael. The interment will take place at Memorial Park.
