Obituary

Mrs. Vivian May Johnson, 94, of Burlington, died at 9:47 a.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015, at her home.
Born May 15, 1921 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Albert and Dora (Poggemiller) McColloch. On September 7, 1941 she married Kenneth G. Johnson in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1997.
Mrs. Johnson was a Burlington High School graduate and received her teaching certificate from UNI. She worked at the Des Moines County Courthouse and retired in 1978 from Crescent Electric where she worked as an office clerk.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church and the Motorettes. In her younger years she enjoyed roller skating and ice skating and later she enjoyed Bingo and card playing.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. (Joyce) Johnson of Burlington and David S. (Lois) Johnson of Granger; one daughter, Kellee Ann Johnson of Evergreen, Colorado; two grandsons, Michael Johnson of Overland Park, Kansas and Brian Johnson of Burlington; one granddaughter, Angela Johnson of Johnston; two great grandchildren, Zachary Johnson and Adam Johnson; and one sister, Doris Walz of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Albert, Orville and Dale; and one sister, Elsie Miller.
Friends may call from noon until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 6th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Larry Dodds officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the American Heart Association and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
