George "Keoki" Harris Johnson, 87, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Burlington, died Sunday,October 8, 2006 at his home.Born February 19,1919, in Seaton, Illinois, he was the son of Richard Emmet and E. Grace DalrympleJohnson. On June 26, 1946, he married Eunice Keala Ah Puck in Hawaii. She died February 23, 1972. Hethen married Naomi Morrison on May 12, 1988 in Arizona. She died May 4, 1995.Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He had received the American Defense Medal andthe Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. He was very proud of being in the Army and serving his country. Hespent 12 years in Hawaii. He was stationed there during World War II and took his discharge there in 1945.He was a truck driver, driving for Burlington Northern Transport Truck Lines. He also worked at J.I. Case Company.He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 10102, a 55-year member of the American Legion, 47-year member of 40 & 8, 55-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and 34-year member of the Moose Lodge. He had marched in the Drum and Bugle Corps for many years and he was proud of the lodges he belonged to. He loved the Chicago Cubs. His goal in life was to see the Cubs play in the World Series. He enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR Racing. After moving to Arizona, he became a Diamondback fan. Survivors include four sons, Phillip (Terry) Clevenger of Alexis, IL, Jerry (Brenda) Johnson ofParkville, MO, Ron (Kevin) Johnson ofDes Moines, IA, and Don (Susan) Johnson ofMediapolis, IA; two daughters, Geri (Tom) Elmore of Burlington and Donna (Rick) Brockett of Gladstone, IL; 12 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Brock of Silvis, IL and Donna Colton of New London, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Wanda Lou Johnson, and one sister, Irene Bradford. As per the request of Mr. Johnson his body has been cremated. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 21, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Johnson will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 21, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard, VFW Posts 10102, 9162, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton- Walters Marine Corps League, and AMVETS Post 29. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. His memories will live on ... Love and Aloha.
