Obituary
Florence E. Johnsen, 90, of Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at her residence. Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Otto and Emma Earlinson Gustafson. On Nov. 6, 1937, she married George Kenneth Johnsen in Chicago. He died Oct. 29, 1987. Mrs. Johnsen was a graduate of Grovertown, Ind., High School. She loved playing basketball in high school and was an avid Hawkeye fan. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and traveling with her son. Survivors include one son, Richard "Dick" Johnsen of Louisville, Ky.; three grandsons; and one great-grandson. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The funeral for Mrs. Johnsen will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Erick Swanson officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church.
