William A. "Willie" Jarrett, 96, of Burlington, died 10:25 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at his home.
Born September 15, 1919 in Claiborne Parish, LA, he was the son of William Jr. and Della Jarrett. He married Marie Edwards. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1991.
Willy was a WWII Army veteran. He owned and operated service stations and worked for I.A.A.P. He was of the Christian faith.
He was a car enthusiast. He enjoyed working and "wrenching" on cars, painting and body work. He loved to go fast.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Russell of Doniphan, MO and Shirley (Eddie) Miller of Bowling Green, MO; four sons, James A. (Donna) Jarrett of Burleson, TX, Kenny W. (Sue) Jarrett of Burlington, Johnnie W. (Jolene) Jarrett of Danville and William E. (Cathy) Jarrett Jr. of Mediapolis; 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one daughter, Deborah, two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 1st, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mr. Jarrett will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 2nd, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Advanced Home Health Care.
