Harry A. Jacobson, 93, of Burlington, died at 5:10 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at the Rosebush Gardens Health Center. Born May 30, 1913, in Burlington he was the son of Siegfried Emanuel and Fredrika Jacobson. On August 21, 1940, he married Georgia M. Hartman in LeMars, Iowa Mr. Jacobson was a Postal Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He retired in 1974. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Panama Canal zone. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #579, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #150, and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was known for his homemade fudge candy. He loved woodworking and enjoyed cooking. Survivors include his wife, Georgia; one son, Tom (Rhonda) Jacobson of Burlington; one granddaughter, Nikki Jacobson; one step granddaughter, Stephanie Cox; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters As per the request of Mr. Jacobson his body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. The Graveside Committal Service and Inurnment for Mr. Jacobson will be 10:00 AM, Friday, October 20, at the Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Carl J. Engstrom officiating. A memorial has been established. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
