Marguerite E. Jankowski, 94, of Burlington, died at 7:44 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at her home. Born July 1, 1913, in Burlngton, she was the daughter of Arthur "Art" and Esther Anderson Hartman. On June 12, 1935, she married Joseph P. Jankowski in Kahoka, MO. He died May 14, 2001. Mrs. Jankowski worked for the Weather Bureau and Hartman Flying Service at Burlington Municipal Airport, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and Leopold Desk Co. She also was a cook at Gibby's, Oak Street Elementary School cafeteria and the Cook's Store. She was of the Lutheran faith and attended Burlington Community Schools. She assisted with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a past member of Cascade Boat Club. Survivors include four children, Larry P. Jankowski of Burlington, Joan Knotts of West Burlington, Dorothy Whitaker of Mediapolis and Joe A. Jankowski of Burlington; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Eisenhart of Sun City, Ariz.; and one brother, Paul Hartman of Waukee. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and one grandchild. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. The graveside service and burial for Mrs. Jankowski will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Hooks officiating. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice Hosue.
