Edward "Gene" James, 64, of Burlington, died at 3:03 PM Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center, ICU.
Born December 8, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles Edward James and Katherine Barnes.
Gene was a commercial cook, one of his favorite places to cook was at the Burlington Hotel.
He graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1969.
He was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship and enjoyed attending church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching movies and wrestling.
Survivors include three sisters, Vicki Gipson, Charlotte James, Arlene Martin all of Burlington; one brother, Troy Robinson of Des Moines; his second mother, Ms. Liz Robinson of Burlington; several nieces, nephews; and many good friends..
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Linda Harris, and one brother, Clifford Gipson Jr.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Prugh's Chapel.
The funeral service for Mr. James will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 2, 2016, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship with Reverend Lawrence L. Manson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Union Baptist Church Full Fellowship Gospel following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the Union Baptist Church Full Fellowship Gospel.
