Mr. Floyd "Dean" Jackson, 84, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Great River Medical Center.
Born October 1, 1928 in rural Scotland County, Missouri, he was the son of Leo and Veda Donaldson Jackson. On July 26, 1948 he married Frances Daniels in Kimball, Nebraska.
"Dean" was a Memphis, Missouri high school graduate.
"Dean" worked at Citrus House in Claremont, California as tally, foreman, and J.I. Case in Burlington. In 1953 he started work at Embalming Burial Case Co. as shipping and receiving foreman from where he was promoted to plant superintendent, manager, general manager and vice president before the plant closed in 1972. He then worked at General Electric for 16 years a materials controller, retiring in 1990. He was also a contractor for many years.
"Dean" loved his family, camping in the mountains and homemade ice cream.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances Jackson of Burlington; two daughters, Judith A. (Timothy) Jackson of Danville and Debra L. (Joseph) Ertzinger of Burlington; one son, David N. (Diana) Jackson of Berthoud, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Brad) Heald, Timmera (Mike) Huston, Angie (Matt) Nunn, Melissa (Brian) Colbeck, Baret Ertzinger, Coleman Ertzinger, Brody Ertzinger; six great grandchildren, Coral Heald, Wesley Heald, Jaxson Huston, Bailey Nunn, Riley Nunn and Conner Colbeck; two brothers, LaVerne (Mary) Jackson of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Sue) Jackson of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Jackson will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31st, at Lunning Chapel with Rev. Dean Moberg and Mr. Bradley Heald officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery
