Evelyn Augsburger MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa #45;- Evelyn L. Augsburger, 67, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Wapello, died Wednesday Aug. 22, 2001, at the Mapleleaf Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Dr. Edward Peterson will officiate. Burial will be at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation is after noon Friday with family present 6:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for the genealogy section of the Mount Pleasant Public Library. Mrs. Augsburger was born July 29, 1934, in Muscatine, the daughter of Oscar and Hilda Whitaker Kemper. She married Richard 'Dick' Augsburger Nov. 27, 1954, in Wapello. She was a member of the Wapello High School marching band when the band received its first number one rating in the school's history in state marching band contest. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1952 and the Burlington Beauty Academy in 1953. She owned and operated the Broadway Beauty Shop in West Burlington. She worked in the accounting department of the F amp; M bank in Burlington, National Research in Burlington and as a secretary for the Murray Iron Works in Burlington. Later, she worked for the Naval Department of Sylvania, IRC in Burlington and Motorola in Mount Pleasant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant and the James Harlan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her county genealogy memberships included, a charter membership for Louisa County, a lifetime membership for Des Moines County and the Henry County Genealogy Society. She was active in the Sunnyside School PTA in Burlington and a den mother in the Sunnyside Cub Scout Pack. She was a supporter of the little league and enjoyed collecting antiques. She enjoyed spending time with her family and assisting on school trips with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Mount Pleasant; a son, Scott Augsburger and wife Lisa of Mount Pleasant; two grandchildren, Staci and Ashli Augsburger of Mount Pleasant; a brother, Warren Kemper and wife Shirley of Wapello; two nephews, Mark and Tom Kemper; and a niece, Judy Gerst.
