Francis "Corky" Eugene Lebeck, Sr., 88, of Burlington, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at his home. Born January 4, 1921, in Henderson County, Ill., he was the son of Frank N. and Charlotte Maxey Lebeck. On January 4, 1942, he married Ellen M. Ehret in Burlington. She died February 15, 1990. Mr. Lebeck worked for Railway Express and Atlas Warehouse, and retired in 1982 from Arledge Transfer Co. after 29½ years. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II, and was called back into service for the Korean War, attaining the rank of Gunners Mate First Class. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 579, Fraternal Order of Eagles Burlington Aerie 150, and Teamsters Union. He enjoyed Southeastern Community College basketball and Class of 1939 gatherings. Survivors include two sons, Francis "Gene" Lebeck, Jr. of LeClaire, and Steven A. Lebeck of Burlington; one daughter, Nancy Morrow of Burlington; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington. The body has been cremated. The memorial service for Mr. Lebeck, Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Morris C. Hurd officiating. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for West Hill United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.
