Paul Adolph Huppenbauer, 85, of Galesburg, Ill., formerly of Burlington, died at 3:17 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Born March 12, 1926, in Burlington, he was the son of Adolph and Mamie Lehman Huppenbauer. On July 12, 1953, he married Margaret Rose Ehret in Burlington. Mr. Huppenbauer worked as a quality control manager for IRC-TRW. He retired in 1991. He graduated from Burlington High School. He enjoyed golfing, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, playing cards, and playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; one son, Steve Huppenbauer of Galesburg; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated. The private family graveside memorial service for Mr. Huppenbauer will be Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Morris Hurd officiating. A memorial has been established for Leukemia research. Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
