Obituary
Homer Aston, night captain of police in Burlington, died this morning about 3 o;clock at his home, 122 North Gunnison street, after an extended illness. For several weeks he had been a patient in Burlington hospital and his friends have known for some time that his condition was extremely serious. He has been a member of the police department for four and one-half year and was appointed night captain by Chief H.H. Schwenker, April 23, 1924. He came to Burlington five years ago and has since made this city his home. His birth was in Colchester, Illinois, November 6, 1885, and his boyhood was spent there. Mr. Aston was a member of Walnut Lodge A.F.&A.M. No.588 of Mystic, Iowa and he also was a member of Murad Grotto. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Charlotte, at home; his parents who reside at Mystic, Iowa; two brothers, Ernest Aston of Mystic, Iowa; two brothers, Ernest Aston of Mystic and Dale Aston of Ottumwa, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Young of Ottumwa and Mrs. William Wahl of Mystic.
The remains were removed to Prugh's chapel. Funeral announcements will be made later.
