Billie Yvonne Ryner Humphrey, 75, of Burlington, died at 6:22 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Great River Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington. Born January 16, 1933, in Albia, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ellis and Alleyne Bateman Kester. In November 1948, she married Russell Ryner. He died in 1997. On June 4, 1969, she married Howard Humphrey in Tucson, Arisona. He died July 17, 2005. Mrs. Humphrey worked at Sylvania, Georgia Pacific, Champion Products and the Burlington School System. Billie was raised by her mother and stepfather, Marvin Walker. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church. She enjoyed clay crafting for many years. Survivors include two sons, Terry Lynn Ryner of Burlington and Jerry Lee (Kim) Ryner of West Burlington; two stepdaughters, Connie (Lynn) Walker of Chicago and Glenda (Curt) Lowry of Normal, Ill.; one stepson, Bryan (Ann) Humphrey of Sperry, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Sandy) Walker and Dave (Ginny) Walker both of Tucson, Arizona; two aunts; six cousins; nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Julie Ryner, and her parents. Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where the family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday. The funeral for Mrs. Humphrey will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Great River Medical Center Hospice House.
