Obituary

Edwin William Astfalk, 81, of 1710 Lincoln St., Burlington, died at 3:16 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. 1994, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Jan.25, 1913, in Burlington, he was the son of Gus and Rosa Heines Astfalk. On Sept. 29, 1938, he married Ethel Mae Huppenbauer in Kahoka, Mo. Mr. Astfalk had been a clerk for 30 years on the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Mainliners and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mary Ann Porter of Burlington; one son, William Astfalk, of West Burlington; two grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Graham of Burlington; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Visitation will follow a wake service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Astfalk will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prughs Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Stouvenel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
