Phoebe Robinson Hull, 95, of Burlington, died on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 12:54 p.m. at Great River Medical Center. Born on May 4, 1913, she was the daughter of Moses Wallace and Lavina C. Williams Robinson. She married James R. Hull on October 6, 1939, in Burlington. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1989. Mrs. Hull was a telephone operator and clerk for Northwestern Bell for 29 years. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, where she was known as being the oldest and longest member. She was also part of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Carthage Lake Club. Her hobbies include bowling, playing pinochle, and watching sports. She enjoyed vacationing in Colorado, and loved the mountainC. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn West of Burlington; a son, James R. Hull of Memphis, TN; a brother, Allen Robinson of Key West, FL; a sister, Roberta Popp of Burlington; a sister-in-law, Willa Sommerfeld of Burlington; and two grandchildren, Thomas West of Fort Collins, CO, and Amy Moriarity of Kent, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Wallace Robinson; and her step-mother, Ethyl Robinson. The funeral services for Mrs. Phoebe Robinson Hull will be held on Thursday, April 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Deb Miller-Kinney will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1st, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, the Des Moines County Humane Society, or to Hope Haven.
