Robert Warren Schuler, 87, of Burlington, died 10:50 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Great River Medical Center, Klein Center.
Born on September 11, 1927 in Tucson, Arizona, he was the son of Herbert W. and Helen (Nickelsen) Schuler. After the death of his mother, he and his fraternal twin brother, Bill, were raised in Burlington by his paternal grandparents, William C. and Nellie (Hartley) Schuler and his aunt, Genevieve (Harold) Nebel. He married Delores Perkins in February 1955, they later divorced. He then married Irene Alta Jones on January 1, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died March 12, 2013.
Mr. Schuler worked in delivery for Sutter Drug for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Golden Oldies, Hawkeye Natives and was a volunteer for the Steamboat Senior Center. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #10102, the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He proudly served with the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
He enjoyed traveling with Irene and time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Craig, Leta and Rena; cousins, Beverly (Don) Sands and Mary Lou (Roger) Keester of the Quad Cities; aunt; nieces; nephews; cousins and step-brother Warren (Butch) Schuler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife, and fraternal twin brother William (Butch) Schuler.
There will be no funeral services for Mr. Schuler. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel. Inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
